Cathedral High School won the Indiana central region and state We the People competitions last semester, also winning 4 of the 6 individual unit awards at both competitions! Now, we will proudly represent the State of Indiana as "Team Indiana" at the National Finals in Washington D.C. April 20 – 25, 2017.
We the People is a civic education program, which promotes good citizenship and understanding of the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and responsibilities of being a United States citizen.
Winning We the People in Indiana is very difficult, as our state has an outstanding program and tradition. In its 6 years of existence, this is Cathedral's 3rd state championship - the two previous teams nationally finished 5th in 2013 and 14th in 2015. We look forward to improving this record.
This year's 16 students are immersed in research, writing, practices, and fundraising with their coaches, not only to meet the standards set by past Cathedral and Indiana teams, but to raise the bar for classes to come. The work and time they dedicate to this rigorous program is admirable and comparable to first and second year law school.
Please help relieve the students from the time consuming effort to fundraising, to allow them to focus on preparation by donating toward their journey and study materials. Your support will help Cathedral's students attain a rigorous civic education and another Top 10 finish at nationals.
Thank you in advance for your donations, and please lift up an extra prayer for our team in April. Go Irish WeTP!
